The apparition at Akita Japan occurred in 1973 to a nun, Sister Agnes Sasagawa within the walls of the Covent of the Handmaids of the Eucharist. Sister Agnes experienced several supernatural encounters commencing on June 12, 1973 and culminating with a dire warning on October 13, 1973.
The apparitions at Fatima Portugal concluded with the Miracle of the Sun on October 13, 1917. The Akita apparition on October 13, 1973, appear to be a continuation or a sequel to the Fatima event. Communicating to Sister Agnes through a statute, the Blessed Mother revealed a terrible warning. The apparition is known as Our Lady of Akita.
The fascinating and critical information is that Sister Agnes (during the apparitions) was totally deaf.
Sister Agnes was handed the responsibility as caretaker of the Convent and would spend much time before the Tabernacle which houses the Most Blessed Eucharist.
It is during her devotion before the Holy Sacrament that Sister Agnes experienced her first supernatural visit from Heaven, through an Angel. (NB: these events at Akita are consistent with the events at Fatima Portugal 1916-1917. The three Fatima children, Lucia, Jacinta and Francesco were first greeted by the ‘Angel of Portugal’ in 1916 prior to the visit from the Lady of the Rosary, May 13 to October 13, 1917.)
Where is Akita Japan?
Akita is the capital city of Akita Prefecture which is one of the 47 districts governed by a prefect in Japan. Akita has a population of over 300,000 people.
Who is Sister Agnes Sasagawa?
Sister Agnes Katsuko Sasagawa was born on May 28, 1931 and her name at birth was Katsuko Sasagawa.
Sister Agnes suffered many hardships throughout her life as she suffered from paralysis of the central nervous system and underwent a number of operations.
Sister Agnes was always drawn to the religious life. Despite her parent’s concern (due to her health), she entered the Handmaids of the Holy Eucharist at Yuzawadai, Akita, Japan in 1969.
When did the apparitions occur at Our Lady of Akita?
The year 1973 was a defining year for the world. The United States of America approved the horrendous murder of millions of unborn children where the US Supreme Court voted 7-2 to give the right to murder a baby in the womb on 22 January 1973.
This sole event would bring Heaven’s vengeance on the world. Sadly, this was the symptom of an already fallen world and Heaven gave the world a terrible warning through a humble nun in Akita Japan. The supernatural apparitions and messages are set out below.
Supernatural Light proceeds from the Tabernacle
On June 12, 1973, whilst in the Chapel, Sister opened the Tabernacle door where she would pray before the Blessed Sacrament (as she was given permission by her Superiors to do so).
In her own words, Sister Agnes describes was occurred:
“When I approached to open the Tabernacle … an overwhelming, unknown light suddenly shone forth. Seized with emotion, I prostrated myself immediately with my face to the floor … I remained perhaps an hour in this position, subjugated by a power which overwhelmed me.” (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book II, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle edition, location 61).
The Angel speaks to Sister Agnes on July 6, 1973
Whilst changing the bandage on her hand, an Angel spoke to her in her bedroom. Initially, Sister Agnes though the Angel was her deceased sister but the vision assured her that it was her Angel.
The following is the conversation of the Angel from Sister Agnes’ journal:
“Do not fear. Pray with fervor not only because of your sins, but in reparation for those of all men. The world today wounds the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord by its ingratitude and injuries. The wounds of Mary are much deeper and more sorrowful than yours. Let us go to pray in the Chapel” (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book III, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle edition, location 119).
Continuing on, following the though that Sister Agnes saw the Angel as her sister, he said:
“I am the one (Angel) who is with you and watches over you.” (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book III, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle edition, location 119).
The Statue of Our Lady in the Chapel Speak to Sister Agnes
Sister Agnes followed the Angel to the Chapel and it was there alone in prayer that the Statue of Our Lady began to speak to her.
The statue is carved out wood from the native Kasura tree. The statue has a close resemblance to Our Lady of Grace and Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal and stands three feet in height.
The statue comes to life and communicates the following:
“My daughter, my novice, you have obeyed me well in abandoning all to follow me. Is the infirmity of your ears painful? Your deafness will be healed, be sure. Be patient. It is the last trial. Does the wound in your hand cause you to suffer? Pray in reparation for the sins of men. Each person in this community is my irreplaceable daughter. Do you say well the prayer of the Handmaids of the Eucharist? Then let us pray together” (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book III, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle edition, location 141).
It was at this time that the Angel reappeared. And Our Lady, the Angel and sister Agnes began to pray the following prayer:
“Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Truly present in the holy Eucharist I consecrate my body and soul to be entirely one with Your Heart being sacrificed at every instant on all the Altars of the world, and giving praise to the Father, pleading for the coming of His Kingdom. Please receive this humble offering of myself.
Use me as you will for the glory of the Father and the salvation of souls. Most Holy Mother of God, never let me be separated from Your Divine Son. Please defend me and protect me as Your special child. Amen” (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book III, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle ed., location 156-157).
What are the main Akita Messages?
Our Lady of Akita implored mankind to turn away from sins and make reparation for sinners, as prayer, penance, and sacrifice could soften the Heavenly Father’s anger:
“Many men in this world afflict the Lord. I desire souls to console Him to soften the anger of the Heavenly Father. I wish, with my Son, for souls who will repair by their suffering and their poverty for the sinners and ingrates.”
“In order that the world might know His anger, the Heavenly Father is preparing to inflict a great chastisement on all mankind. With my Son I have intervened so many times to appease the wrath of the Father. I have prevented the coming of calamities by offering Him the sufferings of the Son on the Cross,
His Precious Blood, and beloved souls who console Him forming a cohort of victim souls. Prayer, penance and courageous sacrifices can soften the Father’s anger. I desire this also from your community…that it love poverty, that it sanctify itself and pray in reparation for the ingratitude and outrages of so many men.”
On October 13, 1973, which happens to be the Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun at Fatima, 1917:
Our Lady’s message stated:
Pray the Rosary daily, as a terrible punishment would come to all humanity if men do not repent. She also spoke of the things that would happen within the Church and the world because of the many offenses toward Our Lord:
“My daughter, listen well to what I have to say to you. You will inform your Superior. As I told you, if men do not repent and better themselves, the Father will inflict a terrible punishment on all humanity. It will be a punishment greater than the deluge, such as one will never seen before.
Fire will fall from the sky and will wipe out a great part of humanity, the good as well as the bad, sparing neither priests nor faithful. The survivors will find themselves so desolate that they will envy the dead.
The only arms which will remain for you will be the Rosary and the Sign left by My Son. Each day recite the prayers of the Rosary. With the Rosary, pray for the Pope, the bishops and priests.”
“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres… churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.“
Our Lady continued:
“The demon will be especially implacable against souls consecrated to God. The thought of the loss of so many souls is the cause of my sadness. If sins increase in number and gravity, there will be no longer pardon for them. With courage speak to your superior. He will know how to encourage each one of you to pray and to accomplish works of reparation.”
Knowing that sister Agnes showed some hesitation the Blessed Mother continued:
“It is Bishop Ito who directs your community … You still have something to ask? Today is the last time I will speak to you in living voice. From now on, you will obey the one sent to you and your Superior. Pray very much the prayers of the Rosary. I alone am able to save you from the calamities which approach. Those who place their confidence in me will be saved.”
Did Sister Agnes receive a message on October, 2019?
It has been circulating in the Catholic world that Sister Agnes received a message an Angel on October 6, 2019 which signal that something is about to take place.
The following is what Sister Agnes (who at the time of publication was 88 years of age) wrote (translated into English):
“It was on Sunday, October 6, at 3:30am in Akita, the same angel appeared before me as from some 30 years ago.
The angel first told me something private. The good thing to convey to everyone is,
“Cover in ashes and please pray the Penitential Rosary every day. You become like a child and every day please give sacrifice.”
What appears to be of note here is that this message seems to be a warning of what occurred at the Vatican grounds where the Amazonian Synod took place and ‘Pachamama’ worship (Idol Worship) took place on October 4, 2019.
Is it no coincidence that a disease would appear all over the globe around the same time? Some reports have speculated that the origin of the disease was in the labs and in the early part of October 2019 and coincided with the Military Games, October 18–27, 2019 in Wuhan, Hubei, China. These are just speculation; however, all these events seem to fit together.
Have there been any miracles at Our Lady of Akita?
Apart from the statue of Our Lady speaking to Sister Agnes, the visions and the messages, there have been two confirmed miracles.
Sister Agnes is given her hearing.
Sister Agnes entered the convent of the Handmaids of the Eucharist completely deaf. However, on May 30, 1982, and in fulfilment of Our Lady’s prophecy, Sister Agnes was cured of her deafness. (Our Lady of Akita (Many Faces of Mary Book II, Bob and Penny Lord, 2011, kindle edition, location 395).
A second Miracle.
A Korean woman, Teresa Chun, who suffered from an incurable brain cancer, travelled to Akita Japan and prayer before the statue of Our Lady in 1981. Teresa was immediately cured and both the Doctor and President of the Ecclesiastical Tribunal of the Archdiocese of Seoul confirmed the miracle, in that no medical or scientific explanation maybe attributable to her cure.
Are the apparitions and messages of Our Lady of Akita, Japan approved?
Following these miracles and the fact that the local ordinariate had much to do with Sister Agnes, Bishop John Shojiro Ito of the Diocese of Niigata and who founded the Handmaids of the Eucharist gave the apparitions and messages formal approval on April 22, 1984. The letter from the Bishop also approved veneration for his entire Diocese.
In June, 1988 Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI) who was head of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith gave definite judgement on the Akita events and messages, stating that there were no objections to the conclusion of Bishop Ito’s Pastoral Letter.
