The Holy Souls: Purgatory in Scripture, the Saints and Prayer

Description

Is there anything more we can do for those we have lost?

Every Catholic has stood at a graveside and asked that question. For two thousand years the Church has answered yes. The souls in Purgatory are saved by Christ and being purified for Heaven, and our prayers, Masses and sacrifices can help bring them home.

The Holy Souls: Purgatory in Scripture, the Saints and Prayer is a faithful and consoling guide to that great work of mercy.

What will you find inside?

Part One: The Foundations. What Scripture, the Fathers and Doctors of the Church, and the Church’s own teaching say about Purgatory, explained clearly for the ordinary reader.

Part Two: The Saints and the Holy Souls. True stories of saints who encountered souls from Purgatory, and what those souls asked of them.

Part Three: Prayers and Devotions. The Church’s traditional prayers for the faithful departed, with a guide to the plenary and partial indulgences offered for the dead, especially during November.

Every prayer in the book is a traditional, Church-approved text. Nothing has been newly composed.

Who is this book for?

It is for anyone who has lost someone they love, for families keeping the Catholic custom of praying for the dead through November, and for teachers, catechists and parishes looking for a reliable guide to Purgatory and the Holy Souls.
